Children With Disabilities: God's Punishment for Abortion

Virginia legislator Bob Marshall is now telling women that disabled children are God's punishment for women who have abortions. What an evil idiot.
"The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically. Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children.

In the Old Testament, the first born of every being, animal and man, was dedicated to the Lord. There's a special punishment Christians would suggest."
So let me get this straight, Mr. Marshall. You're saying that if I do something awful, God will punish my innocent child? Inflict him with a mental disability that leaves him unable to care for himself? Or makes her schizophrenic so that she'll hear horrifying voices for her whole life? Or cripple him, or give her cystic fibrosis so that she'll suffocate and die before she reaches the age of 30?

Is that the God you worship, Mr. Marshall? Is that your idea of a kind, loving, just God?

But then, I shouldn't be surprised, should I?

This God is the same one who committed genocide many times – Noah's flood, the Canaanites, Sodom and Gomorrah ... the list goes on and on.

And how about Jericho? "They enforced the curse of destruction on everyone in the city; men and women, young and old, including the oxen, the sheep, and the donkeys, slaughtering them all." (Joshua 6:20-21). Right, even the poor donkeys and sheep got killed. Wow.

So I guess it's no surprise, Mr. Marshall, that your God feels it's OK to punish innocent children for the sins of their parents.

But as for me, I prefer people with morals, and if I were inclined to believe in God, I sure wouldn't pick your God. Your God is hideously cruel, spiteful, angry, mean, and just plain immoral. And you think the rest of us should worship this god? To put his "ten commandments" in our schools and courtrooms?

I don't think so. And men like you shouldn't hold public office, and you sure as hell shouldn't be giving press conferences. It gives real Christians a bad name.

  1. It's ironic that the Christian religion is based on one who was sacrificed WITHOUT having committed sin. This was more than an amazing gesture, it was religious martyrdom. For a Christian to believe that God punishes the innocent is an amazing contradiction.

  2. As a parent of a disabled child(MECP2 duplication syndrome}whenever some moon faced Christian smiles and says"Its the will of god."when trying to sympathize with us,I just want to vomit with rage. How can some one willingly follow a god who plans to torture children? i don't think i can put into words just how offensive faith can be.

  3. Is this the same senator who said the devastation in Haiti was god's will? I wouldn't be surprised.
